Mediclinic Ermelo celebrates International Nurses’ Day

Colleagues within each Mediclinic locality select a Nursing Excellence Award winner, nominated by their peers in recognition of their selfless work that stands out above others.

“Care goes further than you think” served as the subject for Mediclinic’s celebration of International Nurses’ Day, which strives to recognise and give thanks to each nurse who has chosen a career in providing care for others.

Every patient has someone who cares about them, and relies on nurses for excellence and competence.

Nurses make sure that each patient can go home and resume their position as a parent, sibling, coworker or friend by taking good care of them.

According to a 2022 Gallup survey, nursing has been globally regarded as one of the most trusted professions for more than 20 years, followed by doctors and pharmacists.

“We are aware of the trust that members of the community place in us every time they visit one of our hospitals or day clinics,” the general hospital manager of Mediclinic Ermelo, Tessa Williamson, said.

Every year, Mediclinic sets aside a special day to honour its nurses for their incredible work, providing patients with the finest treatment possible and the crucial role they play both inside its hospitals and in their communities.

Jeanette Sibanyoni was this year’s winner. She has demonstrated compassion and dedication toward others, according to Williamson.

Sibanyoni has been employed by Mediclinic for two years in the capacity of professional nurse in the surgical unit. “She is renowned for her empathy, loyalty, dedication, knowledge and capacity to care for others and set an exemplary example.

“We congratulate all the nominees who were identified by their colleagues for their outstanding demonstration of expertise and care, as well as each and every nurse that makes a positive difference.”
