Spartan Training and Security stood their ground in front of the entrance of Spar, but angry protesters did not back down.
Police members had to disperse the crowd with rubber bullets and stun grenades.

The crowd ran into town, but soon after regrouped.
The taxi organization, who initially did not participate in the protest appears to have apparently joined the group this time.
This is related to the event at Spar. According to unconfirmed reports, one of the taxis got hit by a stray rubber bullet from police, allegedly infuriating members of the taxi associations.
As taxi drivers gathered outside the police station, police maintain that there is no need for concern.
Captain Carla Prinsloo, Ermelo police spokesman, noted that the matter is being handled in order to calm the tension that has risen as a result of the occurrence, the legitimacy of which they are still attempting to establish.

Various other reports came through of different groups causing havoc around town.
A truck was allegedly earlier forced to drop a load of coal to block the road on the N2. This, according to police was soon cleared away.
At Acasia there was a report of a protester who hurled a stone at a police member.
Another group is alleged to have closed the N17, Bethal Road. Prinsloo has confirmed that police have now cleared the road and that it is open for travel.
