Ermelo pensioner says the word ‘retired’ doesn’t exist in her vocabulary
She firmly believes there is always something new to learn in life, no matter how much they think they know.
Sandra Gregory, a spirited pensioner originally from Wigan, United Kingdom, has lived a life most can only dream of.
Fuelled by an adventurous spirit and a passion for art, her journey has taken her across continents, meeting celebrities, witnessing breathtaking wonders, and sharing her talents with the world.
She also found a way of expressing herself through art, which had always been her passion.
Her interests and passions also led her to become a professor at the Evander Technicon, where she authored textbooks on the chemical reformation of hair.
Now retired, she resides in an old age home in Ermelo. However, the word ‘retired’ doesn’t quite fit her, as she remains an active member of the community, inspiring others with her enthusiasm and creative flair.

During Highvelder’s visit, she was giving tips to another resident about fabric painting.
Gregory’s artistic talents span from various mediums, and she can illustrate any picture that comes to mind. Her artwork has become sought-after at local markets, where she sells them and offers art lessons to aspiring artists.
She also selflessly gives back to the Alzheimer’s facility at the old age home. All proceeds from her art lessons go towards enhancing the lives of those battling the disease.
If you are interested in taking art lessons or owning one of her artworks, contacted her on 071 539 1183.
