Ligbron bids farewell to matriculants

The proud sermon symbolizes that the grade 12s have come to the end of their school career and that henceforth they as light bearers of Light Source will radiate their light into the outside world.

Ligbron’s Grade 12 Awards and Candle Ceremony took place in the school hall on Friday, October 20.

The school hosted this event to say goodbye to the matriculants of 2023 and reward them for their achievements, not only for the year but also through the last five years.

The following special awards were made:

  • Janneke received the Ligbron Ambassador Award. She has also received awards as the best senior orator.
  • Fatimah Mogaliah is Ligbron’s Dux Learner for 2023, with an average of 91.9%.
  • Kyle Alves was named Sports Boy of the Year. He was selected for the Craven Week U18 team and was a member of the SA Bokkies 7’s team. He also received a scholarship from the IRI. He also has an award for the best senior rugby performance of 2023 and the Liggie Leier Trophy for his year as head boy of the school.
  • Dean Black was named the Most Versatile Sports Boy. He represented the school in rugby, cricket, and golf and was selected for the SA Bokkie teams in rugby and cricket. He was also assigned as the best back in the first team.
  • Jana Du Plessis,  received the Liggie Leier Trophy for her year as head girl.
  • Pierre Jonker, received a trophy and colors of honor for 12 years of 100% school attendance.
  • Vannie Fourie, received the trophy as best rugby forward player in the first team.
  • Cecilia Venter received a trophy for the biggest contribution to hockey during her high school career.
  • Elizmarie Greyling, received a trophy for the greatest contribution to netball in her high school career
  • Wandile Ngwenya,  received a trophy as the best senior hockey player.
  • Muriel Mugweni, received a trophy for the girl with the highest achievement in technical subjects.
  • Asiphesona Soyeye, received a trophy for bilingualism.
