Firefighters contain veld fire threatening municipal infrastructure in Ermelo
The Working on Fire-Kishugu Joint Venture (WOF-KJV) recently reported they have recorded 148 fires throughout Mpumalanga since the fire season had started in June.
Thami Mhlabane and Petros Mdiniso of the Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services monitored a veld fire along President Fouché Street, ensuring advancing flames do not reach or damage municipal electrical infrastructure. No damage was reported.
According to them, the fire reportedly started late in the afternoon and posed a threat to municipal electrical infrastructure.
Mhlabane and Mdiniso were therefore dispatched to the area, where they contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to critical areas.
