Heavy rain in Ermelo damages bridge

ERMELO – Heavy rain damaged the bridge on Mandela Drive overnight on April 8.

Drivers are therefore cautioned to reduce speed when driving in this area.

Some residents said the continuing rain had worsened the damage. Some motorists complained about the conditions, claiming it now causes heavy traffic, because drivers are forced to use one lane and must make way to oncoming traffic.

Some public transport operators accused the municipality of inadequate service delivery, claiming that it could have repaired the bridge earlier before the rain exacerbated the existing damage.
