Ermelo community comes together for cleanup

The CBD cleanup began at around 9:00 with volunteers collecting litter.

ERMELO – The DA’s Project 400 Challenge held today, October 19, was hailed as a significant success by Ward 7 candidate JJ Scholtz.

The initiative kicked off at Ermelo Toyota, where a sea of blue shirts gathered in high spirits, eager to make a difference.

Volunteers took to the central business district streets to clean up and restore a sense of pride in their community.

Scholtz was delighted with the turnout and said, “We are extremely happy with how the event went. The enthusiasm and dedication from the community were truly inspiring, and we’re proud of what we accomplished today.”

Beginning at 9:00 am, the volunteers dispersed across the CBD, collecting litter and ensuring the streets were in better condition.

The Project 400 Challenge, aimed at gathering 400 volunteers, is part of the DA’s efforts to tackle illegal dumping and littering, which have become significant concerns for the residents of Ermelo.

Henro Kruger, the DA’s spokesperson for the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development and the party’s political head for Msukaligwa, commented on the project’s goals: “Illegal dumping and littering are ongoing challenges, and initiatives like these are essential to show that we can take pride in our town.”

The DA encourages further involvement from residents in future projects to continue improving the town.
