Grade 11 learner makes his mark as rugby referee
Vuyani Khumalo is flying the flag for Netherland Park Secondary School through his growing refereeing career.
ERMELO – Netherland Park Secondary School Grade 11 learner Vuyani Khumalo is making a name for himself as a rugby referee after he was selected as a match official for the 43rd Amajuba Sports Week in Volksrust earlier this year.
According to the school, Vuyani joined the Mpumalanga Rugby Referee Society (Pumas) in February 2025 and successfully completed an online referee training course before becoming an active referee in March 2026.

He has since officiated rugby matches across the Highveld region and recently earned selection for the prestigious annual tournament’s officiating panel.
The school congratulated Vuyani on his achievement, praising his commitment and passion for the game and wishing him continued success as he develops his refereeing career.
