By-election set to decide leadership in Msukaligwa’s Ward 7
Individuals who voted at the same stations in the 2021 municipal elections are allowed to return to those stations to cast their votes.
As the time approaches for voters to make their choice, the Independent Electoral Commission and the vying parties are preparing for the by-election in Msukaligwa Municipality’s Ward 7.
This election follows a period marked by active campaigning and community-driven initiatives, among others, by the candidates.
Voters who applied for special votes can cast their ballots today, October 22, between 08:00 and 17:00.
These special votes may be submitted either at home or at the local voting stations.
General voting will take place on October 23 from 07:00 to 21:00.
Voters can cast their votes at their registered location, which may be either Ella de Bruin Hall or the Fire Station in Ward 7, according to the voters’ roll.
Those who participated in the 2021 municipal elections at the same voting stations can return to these stations to cast their votes according to Chembeni Thanduxolo from the Electoral Commission.
Candidates for the Msukaligwa By-election:
- African National Congress (ANC): Shube Thulani Bednis
- Democratic Alliance (DA): Schotlz Jacob Johannes
- Patriotic Alliance: Basson Juliet Adileen
- Truth Party: Sadak Shameer
Residents of Msukaligwa are encouraged to make their voices heard by voting in the by-election, which will shape the future leadership of the ward.
