Ermelo men dare to be bold for cancer

The Daredevil Run, a unique event with unconventional attire, was founded to raise awareness of early cancer detection

Ermelo hosted Hollard’s Daredevil Run on Friday when the participants ran along the Kralinbergh Guest House’s parkrun route, some dressed only in purple Speedos and sneakers.

Known for its unusual attire, the Daredevil Run was initially created to spark conversations about men’s health, especially the importance of early detection of male cancers.

Quite a few female onlookers attended the event, eager not to miss out on the day’s action.

According to Eugene Oosthuizen, the organiser, the turnout was exceptional, and they plan to make it an annual event in Ermelo, which he says can only grow bigger.

All funds raised will go toward initiatives to fund early detection and increase awareness of the importance of regular testing for testicular and prostate cancer.
