Highvelder seeks help with blood donation ahead of editor’s imminent arrest
People are urged to come out and support a good initiative—donate blood and help save lives.
Wayne van der Walt, the editor of Highvelder Newspaper, has made a public appeal for help after learning that an arrest warrant has been issued for his detention.
Van der Walt, who insists on his innocence, is seeking the community’s support as his arrest is scheduled for tomorrow, November 22.
“I’ve been informed that a warrant for my arrest will be executed tomorrow, but the details are still unclear. I know these people are out for blood, and I need your help,” Van der Walt pleaded in a social media post.
A blood donation drive will take place tomorrow at the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in Ermelo, located at Shop 04, Jaunricvor Centre, 10 Kerk Street, at 11:00 AM.
Van der Walt is urging those who are able to donate blood to come forward and donate.

“If you know me and can assist, I would sincerely appreciate it. They are apparently requesting blood for my release.”
“Please tag anyone you know who might have too much blood,” he added, in a light-hearted but urgent call for support.
For more information or to donate blood, the public is encouraged to contact SANBS or visit the center directly.
