Chief Albert Luthuli municipal manager shot
The passenger of a vehicle that drove up from behind and then alongside him, pointed a firearm at him and began shooting.

CAROLINA – Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after the Chief Albert Luthuli municipal manager, Ephraim Thabethe (52) was shot.
According to Carolina Police’s spokesman, Sergeant Thabang Mokwana, Thabethe was shot on November 25.
He attended a meeting at his office and left for home at about 17:30.
While travelling in his Mercedes Benz bakkie, about 10 km outside Carolina towards Badplaas, he saw a red Renault which drove up from behind and then alongside him.
“Inside the vehicle there were two men,” Mokwana said.
The passenger pointed at him with a firearm and opened fire.
Thabethe sustained gunshot wounds, injuring his left hand and grazing his forehead.
He managed to make a u-turn with his bakkie driving back to Carolina, where he found traffic officials next to the railway line.
They helped him and took him to Carolina Hospital, where he was admitted.
His vehicle had three bullet holes on the driver’s side and the front window was smashed.
Thabethe was discharged from hospital after he had received medical treatment
The police is currently investigating the case.
