Assistance sought in tracing family of deceased offender

Despite DCS’s efforts to trace his next of kin, no leads have been found. The department is now appealing to the public for any information that could help locate his family members.

ERMELO – The Department of Correctional Services (DCS), Bethal Management Area, is calling on the public for help in locating the family of the late Sabethe Sylivor Baloyi, a 73-year-old male inmate who passed away on November 26.

Baloyi, born on April 4 1951 in KwaMdladla, under the Tonga Tribal Authority near Nelspruit, was serving a 12-year sentence at the Volksrust Correctional Centre at the time of his death.

The former builder, who worked in Ermelo constructing houses, had no known immediate family in the area. Before his arrest, Baloyi was living as a tenant in Extension 34 and had also mentioned owning a site in Mandela Location, KwaMdladla.

Despite DCS’s efforts to trace his next of kin, no leads have been found. The department is now appealing to the public for any information that could help locate his family members.
