Abnormal load to pass through Ermelo on its way to renewable energy facility

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and exercise caution when driving on affected roads.

ERMELO – Residents and travellers along the N2-33 and N2-34 routes should anticipate traffic delays today, 30 January, as an abnormal load has been making its way from Richards Bay to a renewable energy facility located between Morgenzon and Bethal.

The massive load, a wind turbine blade, is being transported by specialised vehicles.

The convoy is expected to pass through Ermelo later today.

Numerous videos of the transport have been circulating on social media.

Riaan Venter, who is accompanying the load, reported around noon that the convoy was near eMkhondo (formerly Piet Retief).

He noted that the journey is progressing slowly, with frequent stops along the route.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, remain patient, and exercise caution when driving on affected roads.
