School starts new chapter with library opening in Ermelo
The library’s opening aligns with Library Week, an annual event that highlights the importance of libraries in fostering literacy and expanding access to education.

New Ermelo Primary School officially opened its library on March 18, marking a significant milestone for the school and its learners.
The event comes just days before the celebration of Human Rights Day on March 21, underscoring the right every child in South Africa has to education.
The new library provides access to learning resources, offering more opportunities for the school’s learners.
The opening was made possible through the contributions of local stakeholders, among others, Chrisna Calitz from the Msukaligwa Library, who donated books to stock the library’s shelves.

The school also received support from local organisation, the Kare Bearz.
During the opening, Juliette Basson of the Kare Bearz said, “A child has the right to be safe, educated, and free to read and explore the world around them. No one has the right to harm a child.”
She told the learners to fill their buckets with the joys of youth and embrace every moment of the age they are right now.
The opening of the library also coincides with Library Week, an annual celebration that emphasises the role of libraries in promoting literacy and providing access to education.
This week serves as a reminder of how crucial libraries are in supporting academic development and expanding learning opportunities for all students.
