Two minors among eight killed in N17 crash near Ermelo

Seven VW occupants and a Toyota driver died in the early-morning collision between Ermelo and Davel.

Eight people, including two minors and six adults, were killed in a head-on collision between a Toyota and a Volkswagen sedan on the N17 between Ermelo and Davel early this morning.

The crash happened near the Ermelo Toll Plaza at about 01:30.

Seven of the deceased were occupants of the Volkswagen, while the Toyota driver was the sole occupant.

The cause of the crash is not yet known. An investigation has commenced.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Jackie Macie urged motorists to obey the rules of the road and adjust their driving to weather and road conditions.

He also conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
