Clean water wasted in Cassim Park as leak persists

Despite these reports, no action has been taken to repair the leak, leaving residents feeling ignored and helpless as they watch a valuable resource drain away.

ERMELO – Frustration is mounting in Cassim Park as residents witness clean drinking water gushing down Bangalia Street due to a persistent leak that has lasted for more six weeks.

Highvelder previously reported on the issue, and was recently informed again that nothing has been done to address the situation.

Adding to their worries is an open manhole, filled with water, just metres away.

“This poses a significant safety risk, particularly to the numerous children who walk past it on their way to and from the nearby Ermelo Combined School,” one of the residents told the newspaper.

They fear that a child could easily stumble or fall into the obscured opening, potentially leading to serious injury.

According to the resident, the issue has been brought to the attention of the Msukaligwa Local Municipality on multiple occasions.

Despite these reports, no action has been taken to repair the leak, leaving residents feeling ignored and helpless as they watch a valuable resource drain away.

“Every day we hear of many people in in the area who have to struggle without water, and here thousands of litres of water goes to waste every day,” the resident stated.

Highvelder again sent media enquiries to Mandla Zwane, Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s spokesperson, regarding this concerning situation and awaits a response.
