Two vehicles collide again near Cassim Park on N17 in Ermelo

Another two-vehicle collision has occurred at the Cassim Park traffic light on the N17. The traffic light has been out of order.

ERMELO – For the second night in a row, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the Cassim Park traffic light on the N17, this time on the evening of July 25.

The accident happened at the same intersection with Oosthuise Street, just before the road exits Ermelo toward Bethal.

According to bystanders, a vehicle allegedly collided with the wheel of a truck at the robot. By the time Highvelder arrived at the scene, the truck had already been moved.

As with last night’s incident, emergency personnel from the Provincial Ambulance Services responded swiftly. This time, paramedics from ER24 also stopped at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates that only one patient was transported by provincial ambulance services to the Ermelo Provincial Hospital. Highvelder is still in the process of confirming.

The extent of the injuries was unknown at the time of publication.

Van Wettens, Shesha and Ermelo Towing Services responded once more, along with members of the South African Police Service and the Ermelo traffic department, who helped direct traffic and secure the scene.

Motorists are urged to remain cautious when approaching the Cassim Park intersection, especially in low-light conditions.

Residents have also reported that the traffic light has not been functioning for the past week. Motorists are therefore urged to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
