MAYFLOWER – Police are investigating a case of murder after two brothers were fatally shot at a local tavern on August 24.

Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, said police were dispatched following reports of a shooting at the tavern.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a black Ford Ranger parked near the premises.

Inside the vehicle, a man was found with gunshot wounds to the head.

“Approximately 20 metres away, a second man was found lying on the ground with two gunshot wounds to the chest,” said Ndubane.

It’s alleged that the brothers were sitting in their vehicle when an unknown suspect, believed to be wearing a dark coat, approached and opened fire without saying a word.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The motive for the attack is currently unknown. Empty cartridges and a bullet fragment were recovered at the scene.

Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help them identify and locate the suspect.
