Four dead in head-on collision on N2 near eMkhondo
Four people, including a pedestrian, died in a head-on collision on the N2 between eMkhondo and Pongola. Two others were seriously injured.
A head-on collision between a bakkie and a sedan on the N2 between eMkhondo and Pongola on October 5 claimed four lives.
According to Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety and Security, three of the victims were passengers in the sedan, while the fourth, a female pedestrian, was found near the wreckage of the bakkie. All four were declared dead at the scene.
The bakkie driver and a child passenger survived but sustained serious injuries.

They were rushed to a nearby hospital in eMkhondo for urgent medical attention.
Authorities say the cause of the collision is still under investigation, with reckless driving not yet ruled out.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, urged motorists to be vigilant.

“Motorists must always be alert. Every driver must obey traffic rules and prioritise their own safety and that of other road users to avoid needless loss of life and life-changing injuries,” Macie said.
He also extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a full recovery.
