Polo driver and Checkers Sixty 60 motorcycle crash in Ermelo

A polo and a delivery motorcycle collided at the Kerk and Voortrekker intersection in Ermelo. Emergency services were dispatched to assist the injured rider.

A motorcyclist sustained injuries after a collision involving a Polo and a Checkers Sixty 60 delivery motorcycle at the Kerk and Voortrekker Street intersection in Ermelo earlier this afternoon.

The exact cause of the collision has not yet been established.

Medical services were dispatched to assist the injured rider. The extent of the injuries has not been confirmed.

Roshan Singh, Assistant Director: Department of Safety and Security Liaison (Road Incident Management System – RIMS), said the intersection remains one of the busiest in Ermelo due to the joining of the N11 and N2.

“Despite having speed humps in Kerk Street as well as in Voortrekker opposite Ligbron Academy for Technology, people are still speeding through this intersection,” Singh said.

He urged motorists to exercise caution, adding that drivers should “even if the light is green, still check for oncoming vehicles.”

Traffic in the area is temporarily affected. Motorists travelling through the Kerk and Voortrekker intersection are urged to proceed with caution.
