UPDATE – Planned power interruption for Ermelo postponed
The 10-hour electricity outage originally scheduled for today, February 18, has been moved to next Friday to allow for infrastructure upgrades.

Msukaligwa Local Municipality has advised that the planned electricity interruption did not proceed as previously communicated and was postponed to February 27.
The municipality did not specify the technical reason for today’s postponement.

ERMELO – Residents and businesses across a large portion of town should prepare for a planned power outage scheduled for February 18.
The Msukaligwa Local Municipality issued a formal notice stating that the interruption is necessary to facilitate the final connection and testing of an 11kV overhead Medium Voltage (MV) line.
The interruption is expected to last for a total of ten hours, from 08:00 – 18:00.
Affected Areas
The municipality confirmed that all areas supplied under the 11kV Substation will be affected. This includes:
• Ermelo East & West and the Ermelo CBD
• Industrial Area and Cassim Park
• Civic Centre, State Farm, and Brummer Dam
• Portions of De Bruin Park and Old Wesselton
• Ext 1 – 11, Golf Course, and Ermelo Airport
• Northern Water Treatment Works
The scope of the project involves the commissioning of either a newly constructed or refurbished 11kV line.
This includes essential safety testing and energizing procedures required to officially place the infrastructure into service.
The municipality reminds all residents that all electrical points and installations must be treated as live for the entire duration of the power interruption.
