Community excitement builds for Ermelo Toyota Legend Fest

The event combines fitness challenges, motoring displays, and local stalls while raising funds for charitable initiatives in Ermelo.

ERMELO – Fun, fitness, and community engagement will once again take centre stage as the Ermelo Toyota Legend Fest prepares to return again this year on June 20 with a packed programme of activities for all ages.

The full event schedule has been finalised and promises a blend of sport, motoring attractions, family entertainment, and community-driven initiatives.

Hyrox challenge returns as fitness highlight

One of the festival’s main attractions last year was the Hyrox fitness challenge, which will once again be included in this year’s programme.

The event has become a standout feature, drawing both competitive athletes and recreational fitness enthusiasts.

Participants are expected to test strength, endurance, and teamwork through a series of demanding functional fitness exercises.

The Mini Hyrox event will also be hosted for children, allowing younger participants to take part in a fun-focused version of the challenge.

With Hyrox continuing to grow in global popularity, organisers expect strong participation from both seasoned competitors and newcomers.

Vintage cars and motoring displays add attraction

A vintage car show will be introduced this year, hosted around the Automark showroom, adding a strong motoring element to the festival.

The display will showcase classic vehicles and restored models, giving visitors an opportunity to view automotive heritage up close.

In addition, well-known 4X4 expert and kykNET personality André de Villiers will feature as part of the launch activities for the new Toyota Hilux, further strengthening the motoring focus of the event.

Expanded festival programme for families and visitors

The Ermelo Toyota Legend Fest continues to position itself as a full-day community event rather than a single-themed attraction.

Visitors can expect a variety of activities, including food and other stalls, local business displays, and entertainment offerings throughout the day.

The popular potjiekos competition will also return, maintaining its place as a firm favourite among participants.

Esports added to engage younger festival-goers

An esports element will also be included in the programme, offering a youth-friendly activity aimed at engaging younger participants in interactive gaming alongside the broader festival line-up.

Parking arrangements and visitor access

Organisers have confirmed that parking will be available at the parking area at the Oak Centre, with attendees encouraged to park there and walk across the road to Ermelo Toyota at 130 Kerk Street.

This arrangement is designed to support smooth traffic flow in the area and avoid disruption to surrounding businesses.

Community impact remains central focus

Beyond all the entertainment, the festival continues to support local charitable initiatives.

Proceeds from the event are directed towards community causes, reinforcing its role as a platform for giving back while bringing people together.

Organisers emphasise that participation in the festival contributes directly to supporting local organisations and community development projects.

Cupcake initiative supports community fundraising effort

The Highvelder will also host a cupcake stall as part of the day’s fundraising activities.

Cupcakes will be sold at R5 each, with all proceeds directed towards charitable initiatives carried out by Ermelo Toyota and the Ermelo Toyota Knights.

This year’s fundraising efforts will specifically assist with the construction of a new roof for a local animal shelter outside Ermelo that cares for animals in need.

The Highvelder team aims to reach a target of 1 000 cupcakes and is calling on the community to assist by donating or baking cupcakes in batches of 12 or 24, or larger quantities where possible.

Donations can be delivered to the Highvelder offices at 43 Kerk Street on June 19 or at Ermelo Toyota on June 20 between 07:00 and 08:00.
