Road rehabilitation underway in Wesselton
Damaged sections in Mahlobo Street will be fixed to make it safer and more comfortable for residents and motorists to use.
WESSELTON – Work to improve Mahlobo Street in Wesselton officially began on July 28, after the Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) handed the project over to the appointed contractor.
Executive Mayor Alderwoman Mapulane Nkosi led the handover. She was joined by Municipal Manager Maqhawe Kunene and directors from different municipal departments.
The project will see a 470 m section of Mahlobo Street in Ward 4 to be repaired.
Damaged sections of the road will be fixed to make it safer and more comfortable for residents and motorists to use.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of August.
The project will also create temporary job opportunities for local residents. Local small businesses (SMMEs) will also benefit by supplying 10m³ tipper trucks for the construction work.
The rehabilitation of Mahlobo Street forms part of the municipality’s Road Maintenance Programme.
