A community in mourning
Issie was a stalwart in establishing a safe haven for unwanted, neglected and abused children of all races and providing them with a second home.

The senseless murder of Issie Dippenaar, a lady who could see no wrong in her fellow human beings, has left an entire community deeply hurt and in mourning.
Issie was a stalwart in establishing a safe haven for unwanted, neglected and abused children of all races and providing them with a second home.
Those of us who knew her or had dealings with her in the course of work-related issues, and even those who had only met her once or twice will remember her as an ever smiling, always neatly dressed, well manicured person with an endearing personality and a heart of gold.
Issie often found herself in the midst of family feuds where children had to be separated from their families due to various reasons, either temporarily or on a long-term basis. With the best interests of the child always her primary concern, she more than once faced the wrath of an angry father or mother whose actions or circumstances had led to such steps being taken.
The insults and threats hurled at her and the caregivers under her management at the children’s homes were taken in her stride and she would soldier on, ensuring that the welfare and well-being of the children concerned remained a priority.
The cost of running such places of safety is astronomical and standing before business leaders and asking for financial or material assistance to fill shortfalls is never easy, but Issie’s endearing personality and steadfast belief that she was merely an instrument in God’s hands was key in securing generous donations from both large and small businesses in town and further afield.
Let us trust that Issie’s legacy in this regard will continue in her memory.
Rest in peace, dear Issie.
Thank you for your vision, caring and concern for the safety and welfare of God’s children.
