My heart was full of wonder at the sight of the lovely full moon hanging low in the sky recently, I had to thank God.

While I prayed, I heard the hoot-hoot of an owl (my favourite bird) in a tree behind me.

My gratitude knew no boundaries! I could not say thank you enough for the beautiful world He had created for us.

I realised there were too many things I am grateful for to mention in one prayer, and decided to write down 10 things daily.

Once I began, I was amazed at how fortunate and blessed I am.

I have three healthy children, a son-in-law and a beautiful grandson.

I still have all five my senses: touch, smell, hearing, seeing and tasting.

My organs are working perfectly, as do my intricate brain.

I have a good job where I do what I love most – reading – and a fantastic support system in my colleagues.

I have a roof over my head, a reliable car, clothes to wear, food to eat, and I can pay my monthly bills.

The list goes on and on.

Showing gratitude for all these, has been giving me tremendous pleasure over the last few days – it is making me a happier person.

What I also noticed, was that it was becoming easier to see the positive in other people, to see the good in them and to appreciate that they were also created in the image of God.
