GALLERY: Wellness campaign gets hearts racing

The St John's Anglican Church was able to raise much needed funds for its ongoing community projects.

DOZENS of locals laced up for the exciting St John’s Anglican Church’s Run for Wellness drive at the weekend.

The event, which is set to become an annual affair, is held to entice religious organisations to become more involved in healthy activities. “The opportunity was given to start that today,” said Forbes Maupa, the senior pastor at the church. “This will hopefully increase the spirit of running and exercise within the community.”

It was a 5km run or walk through the centre of Pinetown, which began and ended at the Pinetown Senior Primary School’s grounds. The Department of Health was also present on the day to give free testing for blood sugar levels and cholesterol.

Forbes thanked Knowles SPAR for sponsoring the event. All of the money raised on the day will be used in the church’s community development projects.
