DURBAN Commercial Crime Unit arrested two teachers for fraud to the value of over R500 000.

A MAN from KwaNyuswa was one of two teachers arrested by the Durban commercial crime unit a for fraud to the value of over R500 000 last week.

The 28-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of fake teachers’ qualifications on Wednesday 4 September.

The teacher had claimed to have obtained his qualifications from the University of Port Elizabeth but investigations uncovered that this was a lie.

The young man has been employed as a teacher since 2009 and the accumulative remuneration for the period of employment is R304,995.

He appeared in the Durban Commercial Court on Friday 6 September and was released on warning. He will appear again in court on Monday 30 September.
