Brandy comes home
The Delport family is happy to report that Brandy, the three-year-old boerboel that escaped from the Malvern vet has been found and retured safely to her home.
BRANDY, the three-year-old boerboel cross which escaped from a Pinetown vet’s attendants in early August has been found and safely returned to her owners.
Carmen Delport, Brandy’s owner, told the Highway Mail that Brandy had been found near the vet in Stapleton Road where she went missing, and it is believed that she had been wandering around the river and underneath the bridge for the past three weeks.
“The man who found her told us that Brandy had been sneaking into his yard at night, scratching in his bins and eating his pug’s food. He tried to capture her when he heard her in his yard, but by the time he got outside she would be gone. On Wednesday (25 September) night he finally managed to corner her in his courtyard,” said Delport.
According to Delport the family received numerous leads regarding Brandy’s location during the three weeks that she was missing.
“We tried to follow up on as many of the leads as we could, but all of them were dead ends. We also received a lot of calls from pet lovers enquiring about Brandy as well as messages of support. We would like to thank all of those people who supported us,” said Deport.
According to the family Brandy has adjusted well and is happy to be back home.
“We are very grateful to the man who found her,” said Delport.
“She cried when she saw us. She still cries when she receives attention,” said Delport with a smile.
“She normally hates the car, but when my husband, Kevin, and my son, Austin, fetched her she leapt into the car without hesitation. She was obviously eager to come home,” added Delport.
Brandy lost a lot of weight while she was missing and picked up a lot of fleas and ticks, but is otherwise in good spirits.
She sat contently as Kayley, the youngest member of the Delport family, hugged her around the neck on Friday morning.
