RHEA Naidoo, a Grade 11 pupil at Westville Girls’ High School, was recently delighted to hear that she had been placed first in the country in the Grade 11 section of the World Knowledge Olympiad.
Rhea competed with about 3500 other Grade 11 pupils in the country and achieved a total of 91,96 per cent.
This very popular schools’ general knowledge quiz, organized by Prof Nico du Plessis of the UOFS, attracted more than 22000 entries this year, with entrants ranging from Grade 6 to Grade 12.
All age groups wrote the same paper and cash prizes were awarded to the first three pupils in each Grade in the country.
Rhea was pleased to receive her R600 prize money. The second place in the country for Grade 11 went to JC Chetty of Durban High School and third prize went to S Botha of Hoërskool Vrede.
The school staff is proud of Rhea and extends its hearty congratulations to her on her fine achievement.
