Adopt a pet at the SPCA
Support the SPCA by adopting one of the friendly animals at the shelter.
THE Kloof and Highway SPCA appeals to residents to adopt a dog from its shelters.
The adoption of a four-legged companion is subject to a pre-home inspection, to ensure that the property is properly fenced, that there is adequate shelter and that the size of the property is appropriate for the dog’s size and breed.
The inspections are conducted by the SPCA’s trained inspectors.
Sterilisation, micro-chipping, de-worming and vaccination are compulsory to all pets adopted at the SPCA, and the costs are included in the adoption fee.
Adoption fees range from R600 per adult dogs to R800 per puppy (this includes a R100 fee for the pre-home inspection).
Residents adopting a puppy will be refunded R200 when the puppy is brought in to the SPCA for sterilisation.
“The SPCA had to collect 425 dogs and cats who were either unwanted or strays during the month of September alone. With Guy Fawkes, Diwali, Christmas and New Year’s approaching the SPCA will have an influx of animals being brought in. So, we are appealing to the community for assistance. The dogs are all desperate for a loving home,” said Barbara Laubscher, fundraising manager at the SPCA.
Adoption hours are from 8am to 3pm on weekdays and from 8am to 12pm on Saturdays.
