A Visual Arts exhibition held at Kearsney College revealed the amazing creative talent amongst KZN’s youth.
The exhibition featuring over 200 pieces from eleven High Schools formed part of Culture@Kearsney, an annual programme of competitions and festivals which was designed to encourage the celebration of arts and culture and provides a platform for the youth in the province to showcase their talent and creativity.
The exhibition included pieces in various media from learners at Thomas More College, Kloof High, Hillcrest High, St Marys, Glenwood, DHS, Maris Stella, Northlands Girls High, Our Lady of Fatima, Michaelhouse and Kearsney College.
At the opening on Monday, 10 March, guest speaker, acclaimed singer, musician and teacher, Shelley McLean spoke about the intrinsic value of supporting and encouraging the arts amongst the youth and praised Kearsney for initiating the event.
The exhibition will be followed at various intervals during the year by a number of other inter-schools events: a festival of one-act plays, dance and movement, photographic competition and a celebration of choirs from both primary and high schools.
