Three injured in Pinetown shootout

THREE people were injured in a shootout in Voortrekker Street in Pinetown at about 7am this morning.

According to Chris Botha, media spokesman for Netcare 911, both paramedics and other emergency services arrived at the scene and noted that three civilians had gunshot wounds. “The people were treated on scene and then transported to a nearby hospital,” said Botha.

“Exact details to the cause of the shooting will remain a subject for police comment,” concluded Botha.

Meanwhile, the Ashley Residents Facebook page reported  the shooting was the result of a  business robbery elsewhere in the area, but this is yet to be confirmed by police. According to this report,  suspects in the alleged robbery were chased into the area. It is believed three suspects were arrested while one is still at large. The suspect at large was apparently injured and was picked up by a white bakkie.

The shootout follows a similar shooting incident on Henwood Road on Tuesday.
