Cops nab alleged dog thieves
Details are unclear at this point, but police have reportedly arrested several alleged dog thieves.
ALLEGED dog thieves were arrested in New Germany yesterday, at approximately 2pm.
At this stage it is unclear what lead to the arrest. Highway Mail is waiting for comment from local authorities.
According to a broadcast message on WhatsApp from the Ashley Resident’s Neighbourhood, some of the dogs had been returned to their owners.
It also urged residents whose pets have gone missing in the last few months to post photos and details of their missing pets, as well as the date that he or she went missing, onto their respective neighbourhood watch WhatsApp groups.
SAPS is reportedly following up on additional leads and are hoping to identify and reunite more dogs with their owners.
This incident follows several reports of dogs being stolen in the Highway area earlier in the year.
Mustang, an American Pitbull, and Baron, a German Shepard, were allegedly stolen from their homes in New Germany in February and March, respectively. Mustang was never recovered, but Baron was located and rescued from a house in Clermont.
