Madiba magic at Hillcrest Hospital

The public supported the RHF's Mandela Remembrance Week.

In memory of Madiba, The Robin Hood Foundation is hosting a Mandela Remembrance Week from Monday, 14 July to Sunday, 20 July.

Instead of just doing 67 minutes on Friday, 18 July for Mandela Day, they decided to arrange a week of blessing those less fortunate such as visiting the youth and elderly in the Shongweni Dam area and treating the disabled and elderly residents at the old Hillcrest Hospital.

The Hillcrest Hospital residents were treated on Tuesday, 16 July to treats, musical entertainment provided by Hannah Norcott and the chance to chat and spend time with the volunteers. Caxton staff members, NAB, Hillcrest High School pupils and other individuals gave of their time to meet and interact with the residents as part of their Mandela Day contributions.

Cindy Norcott, founder of the Robin Hood Foundation said they had an overwhelming response from the public who wanted the chance to be able to bless others in remembrance of Nelson Mandela.

“At the Robin Hood Foundation we don’t believe in just donating 67 minutes once a year to give back to our country. We practice random acts of kindness each week and run various community outreach projects each month,” said Kim Griffith Jones, RHF coordinator.

“This year, because it’s our first year without our beloved Madiba, we thought it would be appropriate to honour his legacy by having a full week of Random Acts of Kindness which we dedicate to his memory.”

If you would like to take part and do your 67 minutes for charity, contact Kim on 076 612 9060.
