Pirate pup needs a home

Pirate, a stray puppy, rescued by the Kloof and Highway SPCA is now available for adoption.

A STRAY pup, which was recently rescued with a badly injured eye by the Kloof and Highway SPCA in Sarnia, is now available for adoption.

The playful pup, affectionately nicknamed Pirate, arrived at the SPCA’s clinic with a severely prolapsed eye. After inspection, the staff at the clinic determined that Pirate’s eye was non-viable and had to be removed. “He was in severe pain and had begun trying to scratch at it as it was extremely uncomfortable. The clinic staff had faith that this little boy is so good natured and friendly that he will definitely be able to find a home and the decision was made that they would operate and remove the eye the next day. He was made comfortable for the night with medication and a comfy bed in our clinic,” said Lisa Gadd, the PR and outreach officer at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

Little Pirate has recovered well after his surgery. According to the SPCA staff, the young canine has regained his energy and spends countless hours playing with the friends he has made at the SPCA’s Puppy Run. “Pirate is up for adoption and is looking for a lovely family who can give him all the love and attention he deserves,” said Gadd.
