LYNETTE Mhlongo, Grade 12 pupil at Pinetown Girls’ High School has been chosen as the SPAR Star of the Month for her dedication to the school.
This young woman has been described as an outstanding prefect and sportswoman, playing both hockey and softball for the school’s first teams.
Sport coordinator at the school, Tanielle Welff said Lynnette is a quiet, determined player who always gives her all for her team.
“She won the Royal society school essay competition, a national competition with 200 schools across the country participating,” said Welff.
Lynnette is also involved in public speaking, forum discussions and toastmasters.
She has received honours for academics as well as 1st prize for English, the Bentley award for Geography and the Booysen Prize for Bilinguality.
Besides her achievements, Welff said Lynnette epitomizes the perfect role model for all to look up to in the way that she wears her school uniform with pride, her self respect and the respect she shows to others.
“A lot of our matrics choose to give up extramurals and extra responsibilities to focus on academics, but not Lynnette Mhlongo,” she said.
Lynnette was runner-up to Dux in the recent speech awards. She achieved 86 per cent and received the Van der Merwe Trophy.She also received The Bohen Cup for esprit de corps which is awarded to a person who has shown outstanding commitment and loyalty to her school.
