Hillcrest lass wins tennis open tournie title

Amelie Boy (15) from Hillcrest dispatched with Sarah Mayne from PMB to take the title in the open ladies’ final at the New Look Dunlop Mini Series Tennis Tournament held at Westridge Park Tennis Stadium.

Durbanite, Damon Kesaris (16), a top five U18 SA player who also excelled in Stellenbosch in November when he won an U18 International Tennis Event, beat Kenton Parton, a previous Nationals winner, in the final in straight sets to emerge as the open men’s winner.

The event, which was held on Sunday, 15 February, saw 150 players taking to the courts – one of the largest entries received in many years. Players from all age groups, including adults, competed in the event.
