The annual Visual Arts exhibition which is open to KZN high school pupils opens at Kearsney College early next week.
A RECORD number of KZN high schools have entered this year’s visual arts exhibition, including seven from the Highway area.
Now in its third year, the exhibition is part of Culture@Kearsney and aims to reveal the remarkable creative talent among the youth in this province. Diversity is encouraged and works in any medium and size can be submitted.
The exhibition will be officially opened at 6pm next Wednesday, 11 March. Thereafter it will be open to the public daily in the Greyhound Pavilion at Kearsney College from Thursday, 12 until Tuesday, 17 between 10am and 6.30pm on weekdays and 10am to 4.30pm at the weekend.
Fifteen schools have submitted work, including Curro HCA, Hillcrest High School, Kloof High School, Thomas More College, St Mary’s DSG, Westville Boys’ High School and Kearsney College from the Highway area, as well as Durban Girls’ College, Glenwood, Maris Stella, Danville, Northlands Girls’ High, Maritzburg Christian School, Treverton and Scottburgh High School.
Culture@Kearsney is an annual programme of competitions and festivals which provides a platform for the youth in the province to showcase their talent and creativity.
It will be followed at various intervals during the year by a number of other inter-schools events – a photographic competition, a dance and movement festival, a one-act play festival, a celebration of choirs from both primary and high schools and an evening of slam poetry which will test the skills of youthful linguists.
