St Mary’s promotes remedial learning at new centre

A new smart/remedial centre was officially opened at St Mary's Diocesan School for Girls.

ST MARY’S Diocesan School for Girls officially opened its beautifully designed and well-equipped Smart Centre on Wednesday. The centre will cater for the needs of children with learning disabilities and provide remedial support.

Educational psychologist, Dr Brenda Talbot, addressed guests at the event before cutting the ribbon to officially mark the opening. Speaking about the beneficial new centre, Talbot said she shares a long-standing and proud association with the school. “We are proud to know that everything we visualised 20 years ago is coming to fruition. Much thought has gone into the design of the centre, and this will help in the development process, which is important.”

She also applauded the collaboration of everyone who assisted to make this vision a reality.

The school’s dedicated remedial teachers will assess and address the various academic gaps that may be identified in the pupils. The centre, which was strategically designed to create the best environment for the pupils, will also accommodate visiting therapists who will offer occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. Additional remedial therapy and lessons are also offered at the centre, which aims to recognise and bring out the full potential in every child.
