Police arrest Hillcrest alleged burglar, recover stolen items

Police responded to a complaint of a house break-in in progress in Homestead Avenue.

STOLEN items worth about R70 000 were recovered by Hillcrest SAPS and Blue Security on Thursday, 23 April.

According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele, police responded to a complaint of a house break-in in progress in Homestead Avenue.

“It is alleged that the complainant went to bed after checking that he had locked the doors. While the complainant was asleep he heard a noise outside and suspected that someone was trying to break in.

“He pressed the panic button and noticed someone running towards the kitchen. He shouted at him to go away and he locked himself and his family in a room,” said Manqele.

Hillcrest SAPS and security responded and arrested one man (20)and also recovered the stolen items – a flat screen television, iPhone, two laptops and other items.
