Durban bus service halted

Commuters are urged to make alternative travel arrangements during this interruption.

A STRIKE by bus drivers working for private operator, Tansnat, has resulted in a temporary interruption of services in all areas.

According to eThekwini communications head, Tozi Mthethwa, the majority of bus drivers downed tools and the service was running with a ‘skeleton staff’ since yesterday afternoon, Thursday, 2 July.

However, from this morning, more drivers decided not to get behind the wheel and the entire service has been affected.

“The bus operator has informed the municipality that they are in talks with the drivers to resolve the labour dispute and hope the service will be back to normal soon. The municipality wishes to apologise to all commuters for the inconvenience caused,” said Mthethwa.

Commuters are urged to make alternative travel arrangements during this interruption.
