Cat show to encourage local entries
A breed group for Siamese, Oriental and Peterbald, as well as 90 cats of various pedigreed breeds will be present at the show.
CATS of various pedigree breeds will put their best paw forward at the Siamese, Oriental and Peterbald Alliance’s (SOPA) cat show at Hillcrest High School, 40 Shortlands Avenue, Hillcrest on Saturday, 11 July from 9am to 4pm.
The event is sponsored by the African Independent Cat Association and Royal Canin.
This the first time in KZN that a double show will be held of this kind, offering exhibitors the chance to title their cats with two organisations, both locally and internationally, so this is historical for the cat fanciers in the province. The organisers have embarked on this combined show initiative in order to unite the shrinking KZN cat fancy sector and encourage local entries.
This is also the SOPA’s first cat show, and although a breed group for Siamese, Oriental and Peterbald, there will be about 90 cats of various pedigreed breeds present at the show, which is a huge deal for the club.
The event also supports the Cats of Durban feral trap and spay initiative, so organisers are hoping to create some exposure for them and the great work they are doing.
The public is urged to support this event and choose their favourite cat for the day. Entry is R15 for adults and R10 for pensioners and children under 12. The theme is ‘Neon Bohemia’, and visitors are welcome to dress up and join in the various festivities. Contact Nicole Barratt on 084 677 2743 or kznccmarketing@gmail.com.
