Be cautious on the road, warns Bellair SAPS

Criminal activities related to motor vehicles in the area are on the rise.

FOLLOWING recent criminal activities related to motor vehicles in the area, the Bellair SAPS has issued a statement reminding residents to be alert of thieves and to be cautious on the road. In four separate incidents, the police responded to cases of theft and road rage.

On Wednesday, 26 August, between 4.30am and 5.30am, a woman on Glendale Road in Bellair was busy in her kitchen when she heard noises coming from outside. She peered through the window and noticed a man standing next to her car, which was parked inside her gated property. He was wearing a black hooded jacket.

She screamed at him and he immediately fled the scene. On further inspection, she discovered that both her rear tyres had been removed.

At approximately 7.30am on Tuesday, 25 August, a 49-year-old man stopped his vehicle at the robot on Edwin Swales Drive (M7) when another driver pulled over in front of him, alighted from his car and assaulted the man.

On Friday, 28 August, between 4.30am and 5.30am, a driver of a commercial vehicle parked to take a nap on Edwin Swales Drive (M7). His sleep was disrupted by noises he heard coming from his vehicle. He then realised that three men were stealing his tyres. They made their getaway on foot. On inspection, four truck tyres had been stolen.

On the same day, between 3am and 6am, the driver of a truck parked on the same road, near the garage, was asleep when he when he heard noises. On inspection, he noticed three men were stealing footwear from the rear of the truck. The men made their getaway in a red Mazda.
