Poppy Day awareness at shopping centres
Poppy Day is about paying tribute to war casualties and help those who are left to bear the scars.
THE Winston Churchill Shellhole and the Highway Shellhole MOTHS (Memorale Order of Tin Hats) created awareness of Poppy Day at various Highway shopping centres.
The Winston Churchill Shellhole MOTHS collected donations for the South African Legion at the Westville Mall.
Janine Kyle of Westville Mall said, “Poppy Day is when the South African Legion holds a street collection to gather funds to assist in the welfare work among military veterans and it takes place on the Saturday nearest to Remembrance Day. When one buys a poppy on Poppy Day, one pays tribute to those who died and helps those who are left to bear the scars of war.”
Kloof High School pupils also helped the Highway Shellhole MOTHS collect at venues in Kloof, Waterfall and Hillcrest.
