Join HACT’s drive for handwarmers

Knit up a storm for a worthy cause this winter.

WHILE the heat may be beating down on the Highway community, the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust is looking toward the cold winter that will hit KwaZulu-Natal and its beneficiaries in the Valley of 1000 Hills.

HACT is appealing to the Highway community to take part in its drive for knitted handwarmers (fingerless gloves) to be distributed among the 24 patients in its on-site Respite Unit with the overflow being handed out to its beneficiaries in the Valley of 1000 Hills.

“People who are not well feel the cold even more than healthy individuals. And

people living in informal housing and shacks suffer the most in the midst of

winter when even those of us blessed with four strong walls and a roof are

feeling the cold. If your hands are warm, your whole body feels warm, which is

why we are on this drive to secure donated gloves for our patients and

beneficiares. It’s a great way to give back,” said Olivia Myeza, Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust’s CEO

All completed handwarmers can be dropped off at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust at 26 Old Main Road in Hillcrest. Contact 031 765 5866.
