
A Westville teenager was seriously injured after he collided with a car while riding his skateboard on Trevor Road in Westville around 3.30pm on Friday afternoon.
Rescue Care paramedics found the seriously injured skateboarder on the road. The teenager was stabilised by advanced life support paramedics on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.
According to the eThekwini Road Traffic by-laws, “No person shall use roller skates or a board or any similar article to which rollers or wheels are fixed and which are commonly known as ‘skateboards’ or cause or permit them to be used upon a public road or sidewalk.”
The cause of the collision is unknown; however, Westville SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating.
