SECURITY officers from Pro Force Security assisted in the arrest of one of the three men who hijacked a car in Pinetown on Wednesday, 23 March.
According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, it is alleged that the victim (26) was sitting in his car along Gillitts Road in Pinetown when he was approached by three armed men.
They pointed firearms at him and forced him out of his red VW Polo. Manqele said the car was fitted with a tracking device and the tracking company contacted Pro Force to help them track the vehicle using a GPS tracking device.
Security officers proceeded to Shongweni, where the car was traced and spotted in the KwaMbiza area. He said the three armed men fired shots at the security officers when they realised they were being followed and the officers retaliated.
“Police also arrived and two of the three men fled after abandoning the car,” said Manqele. The third man was arrested as he could not get out of the car.
