Malvern SAPS reach out on Mandela Day

At the crèche the police gave praise to Tata’s historic deeds and the children sang songs in praise of Tata.

IN keeping with the Mandela Day tradition, SAPS Malvern reached out to the community and spent 67 minutes in service of others.

“We celebrated 67 minutes for Mandela with the children of Burlington Informal Settlement and crèche as well as the residents of Cheshire Home. In recognising an icon and remembering his magnanimous deeds for the people of South Africa. SAPS Malvern members and Escombe Spar spent 67 precious minutes serving the memory of Tata,” stated Corporate Communication Officer, Radhika Marimuthu.

At the crèche the police gave praise to Tata’s historic deeds and the children sang songs in praise of Madiba. “The SAPS members reminded the children of the story of democracy and Tata’s role in it. The children were served sandwiches and juice provided by Escombe Spar,” she said.

Next on the itinerary was Cheshire Homes. The police interacted and spent time with the residents uplifting their spirits and bringing happiness to the frail. The residents were served sandwiches, cool drinks and juice provided by Escombe Spar.
