Swift police action helps recover stolen goods

Within a short space of time the vehicle was recovered by Cartrack, and most of the stolen items recovered in a cemetery in Clermont.

A FAMILY was held up by two men armed with a firearm and knife on their driveway outside their home in Dunkeld Road in Westville North yesterday morning (Tuesday, 19 July) at 7.15am.

According to Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS, the men confronted the grandfather and grandchildren while they were about to leave for school.

The house was ransacked and goods loaded into the complainant’s vehicle, which the robbers used to flee the scene. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

“Within a short space of time the vehicle was recovered by Cartrack, but no arrests have been made. The vehicle’s course was tracked and Westville Crime Prevention and Pinetown Cluster Crime Prevention recovered most of the stolen property in a cemetery in Clermont. Fingerprints will be examined and investigations are continuing,” said Squires.

She commended all police members involved as well as Cartrack for recovering the stolen goods and vehicle.
